Zen has it's own problems. Too much has been stripped from it. That's why you are having net problems. You also need kernel 3.1 for your sandy bridge thing.

Zen might benefit from Openbox, but none of this has anything to do with MMXII.

Well I can't find kernel 3.1 on Synaptic, must patch from source. I run aptosid 2011-01 (kernel 2.6.37.x) and 2011-03 (2.6.39.x) works good with my sandy bridge. Maybe I have to wait for final release of PCLOS x64 with kernel 3.1

PCLOS Gnome2 still rocks on my machine without older xorg, still I must do something to run it on my newer machine. Mind not stripped too much package on your remaster ongoto? It does to many probs and gives a headache to install the essential package. Especially for printer and modem.

Except you want to create a mini remaster.

You are right. I left out the good stuff. I've already started an upgraded version. Coming soon to fine stores everywhere. :D

ongoto, you are a hard worker !
I have news for the isos builders here. If you don't like the way nouveau behaves, you can manage to keep it in and put it to silence, it is by blacklisting it. I have read a member of the official forum talk about it and seen it default blacklisted in another distribution (another rolling release which delivers many flavors and also small isos to build on). I thought I would come to say about this possibility, because I find it quite cool in fact : the user will just have to change the setting in the blacklist.conf file if he wants to try the free driver. Else, the owners of nvidia cards won't be default bothered as some have been, as I have also been.

Hi Mel
I use nvidia and I started blacklisting nouveau a while back. I was reminded recently about it again by slick50, or was it don_crissti. It doesn't make a big difference on my own machine, but some people really have a big problem with it.

What really made a difference in performance here was eliminating qt4 applications. They work ok with gtk but slow it down a bit.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Hi all

Just re-Popularised my whole AMD computer - XP +++ the new Gnome MMX11 and up to NOW no problems.

Funny how Computer Systems seem to come and Go - SHOOT!!! mine seem to be every TWO or THREE months - do REALLY enjoy the Transition even THOUGH that other OS needs even more Popularisation of programs

Cheers for years

Gnome MMXII works best with ATi while others fail.

Sadly I must do apt-get dist-upgrade to make my intel 3000HD run MMXII :(

It still runs on my system, but I'm gonna wipe it as soon as your new remaster hit the web.

The next one will be a maintenance release. No need to download again. The things I left out will be included this time and some other minor fixes. What you've already done (task-x11 and task-printing) and an update would give you the same thing. I added shutter because it works now. I also tweaked compiz so workspaces can be changed with the mouse wheel. But those are things people will change to suit themselves.

Since 2008, I've used PCLOS Gnome, and I've never seen it more solid than it is right now. There's not a lot we can do to improve on it except work out some of it's bugs if possible. Centos 6 is solid, but we have the advantage in software availability and easier setup and configuration. If someone were to 'Digg' us, Linuxgator could become a virtual bee hive.
